RRB Technician Grade I & III Recruitment 2026-27: 6,565 Posts

The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs), Ministry of Railways, released the Centralised Employment Notification (CEN) No. 02/2026, for 6,565 Technician posts, covering Technician Grade-I Signal (323 posts) and Technician Grade-III (6,234 posts, across 24 categories), spanning various Zonal Railways and Production Units. Applications went online 30 June to 29 July 2026. The CBT exam is expected in November 2026, across three shifts.

Eligibility

Technician Grade-I Signal — a B.Sc. in Physics/Electronics/Computer Science/IT/Instrumentation, OR a 3-year Diploma in Engineering, OR a Degree in Engineering in relevant streams. Technician Grade-III — Matriculation/SSLC plus an ITI certificate from a recognized NCVT/SCVT institution in a relevant trade, OR a completed Course Completed Act Apprenticeship.

Selection Process

A separate Computer Based Test (CBT) for each pay level (Level-5 for Technician Grade I Signal, Level-2 for Technician Grade III) — 90 minutes, 100 questions each, with 1/3rd mark negative marking per wrong answer, and normalization of marks across multiple shifts. Minimum qualifying marks: UR/EWS 40%, OBC(NCL) 30%, SC 30%, ST 25% (relaxable by 2 marks for PwBD in case of shortage). This is followed by Document Verification, where candidates are shortlisted based on CBT merit at a 1:1 ratio of vacancies.

Admit Card & Exam Timeline

The Hall Ticket is typically available 3-4 days before the exam, and the City Intimation Slip 9-10 days before. Candidates should keep checking their regional RRB website and rrbapply.gov.in for the confirmed exam date and admit card release.
