Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL), a Navratna Public Sector Enterprise and Group Company of Indian Oil, has invited online applications for 60 Non-Executive Junior Engineering Assistant-IV posts across Production, Mechanical, Electrical, and Instrumentation disciplines. This is Advertisement No. 01 of 2026 (CPCL/HRD:03:055), dated 14 August 2026. Applications go online, running 14 August to 11 September 2026, 23:59 hrs.
A 3-year Diploma in the relevant engineering discipline (Chemical/Petroleum/Petrochemical for Production; Mechanical; Electrical/Electrical & Electronics; or Instrumentation/Instrumentation & Electronics/Instrumentation & Control/Electronics & Communication), with at least 60% aggregate marks (55% for SC against reserved posts), plus a minimum 3 years’ relevant post-qualification experience in a continuous process industry such as Refining, Chemical, Petrochemical, Fertilizer, or Gas Processing. Candidates holding a higher qualification like B.E./B.Tech, MBA, CA, LLB, or MCA are not eligible.
Note for Women Candidates
Owing to hazardous refinery operations and shift-based work requirements, women are not currently considered for Production vacancies (or any cadre requiring shift/365-day operations). Women may apply only for Mechanical, Electrical, or Instrumentation posts.
Selection Process
A Computer Based Test (120 marks — 50 for General Aptitude, 70 for Discipline Knowledge — 2 hours, ¼ negative marking), followed by Document Verification and a qualifying Skill, Proficiency and/or Physical Test (SPPT). Shortlisting for SPPT follows roughly a 1:3 ratio. Final merit is based on CBT marks among candidates who clear the SPPT, subject to medical fitness.

Yes — a 120-mark Computer Based Test, followed by Document Verification and a qualifying Skill/Proficiency/Physical Test.
