The Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications, has issued the India Post GDS Notification 2026 for the July 2026 Schedule-II recruitment, covering 23,757 vacancies for Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) posts — Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM), and Dak Sevak — across various Postal Circles and Divisions in India.

About the Posts

  • Branch Postmaster (BPM) — Overall in-charge of a Branch Post Office, responsible for day-to-day postal operations, IPPB services, and mail conveyance/delivery in single-handed offices.
  • Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) — Assists the BPM with postal operations, sale of stamps/stationery, mail delivery, and IPPB transactions.
  • Dak Sevak — Engaged in Post Offices, Sorting Offices, Mail Offices, or Delivery Centres, handling mail, parcels, and related duties.

How to Complete OTR Registration

  • Visit the official India Post GDS portal and click on OTR Registration.
  • Enter details as per your Class 10 certificate — name, date of birth, parents’ names, and community.
  • Verify your mobile number and email ID through OTP — only one OTR is allowed per candidate, and these cannot be changed later.
  • Submit the OTR form and note down your OTR number and password.

How to Apply

  • From 2 September 2026, log in with your OTR details.
  • Confirm your OTR information and fill in any missing personal details.
  • Choose your 10th-standard examination board, passing year, and marks obtained.
  • Select your eligible division and specify preferences for available GDS posts.
  • Upload photo and signature, pay the applicable fee, and submit before 21 September 2026, 5:00 PM.

Important Note

Merit is based on Class 10 marks. If multiple candidates secure the same aggregate marks, a tie-breaker rule (as specified in the official notification) determines the final ranking.
